‘Bangers and Mash’

Belarusian shepherd Alexey Usikov, 33, drives a horse-drawn carriage equipped with a battery, head lights, and small potbelly stove which he crafted out of an old Audi-80 — which he jokingly calls “Audi-40” as he used only half of the car — in the village of Knyazhytsy, Belarus, May 28, 2020. On episode 23 of The Charles C. W. Cooke Podcast, I expressed my frustration with the idea that everything in American life is either “pro-Trump” or “anti-Trump,” talked to Lanhee Chen about what has happened to California, and finished up by chatting with NR’s own Luther Ray Abel about “bangers”—old cars that are cheap but require constant maintenance.

Please note that Luther did confirm that, in the Midwest at least, the quadratic spacing solution needs to be more viscous, lest the cold weather contract the tetrafarseling or shimmy the wanglepins. We will be taking no more questions about that at this time.
