Apologizing for Iraq

Just catching up on email, going through reader reactions to my yesterday column “Apologizing for Iraq,” in which I recanted my previous (though way previous) support for the war.

I don’t know when I’ve seen such a spread of reader opinion.  I’m a fool.  I’m a genius.  I’m a liar.  I’m the only honest man on NRO.  I’m behind the curve.  I’m ahead of the curve.  I should be tarred & feathered.  I should be President.  Etc., etc.

On impressionistic grounds, I’d say the bag (I’ve read 40 or so, about the same still to go) is about 2 to 1 in my favor.  That’s not an NRO sample, though, as a column like this leaks out via links from other bloggers (most recently Andrew Sullivan and Jerry Pournelle).  My **very** impressionistic guess is that NRO readers are a bit the wrong (for me, I mean) side of 50-50.

Just a thought:  When was the last instance of anyone ACTUALLY being tarred & feathered?
