An October 7 Victim Is Engaged

Michelle Rukovitzin, 21, an intelligence-systems technician in the Israel Defense Forces, spent three months in a coma after Hamas shot her multiple times on October 7. Her boyfriend, Rinat, proposed over the weekend, on the fourth anniversary of their first date; from her wheelchair, Michelle said yes. After the devastating news of this past weekend — that Hamas executed six hostages just days before the IDF found their bodies — this video of Michelle and Rinat’s engagement is a much-needed joyful moment. It’s also a reminder of what Hamas took from so many on October 7: the opportunity for happiness, love, a future.
