An Economic Plan That Ignores History

“You would think price controls would be easy to campaign against, but the record of history shows that this idea is extremely durable,” says Dominic Pino on today’s edition of The Editors.

Unfortunately, “it just keeps coming back no matter how often we try it,” and Kamala Harris is just spouting the latest iteration of the idea.

“That’s really the weird thing about these economic plans from Harris,” Dominic says, “because she is currently the vice president. She is currently part of the presidential administration, which is run by Democrats.”

It’s a head-scratching idea: “If the FTC really has the power to suddenly make food prices go down, why isn’t it doing it right now? Harris could be pressuring the FTC to do that right now.”
