Ah, Thanksgiving

Well, so far Thanksgiving has been as traditional as it could be.

At the Macy’s parade in NYC, one of the traditional giant balloons knocked down a utility pole in the traditional manner, concussing a spectator, and leading to the traditional megabucks lawsuit.

Meanwhile there have been the traditional scenes of shoppers fighting over bargains. From Texas: “It was an ugly scene when the doors opened at the Cascade Township Wal-Mart. Hundreds of shoppers pushed and shoved their way into the store, trampling a number of customers, sending two to the hospital.” In Michigan, there was the traditional Thanksgiving stomping on a pregnant woman: “‘[Stampeding shoppers] stumbled over a pregnant lady and Deja was trying to help her get up. And they stumbled over her and they stepped on her back. And now she’s going to the hospital,’ said McHerron’s mother, Deborah.”

And this is just a warmup for the Christmas — oops, I mean Holiday — season! For those of us with kids, it’s… into the Maelstrom.
