There’s been some question about whether DeSantis’s strength in the 2024 GOP primary polls is illusory because some pollsters are asking about a hypothetical two-man race between Trump and DeSantis, rather than a crowded field that’s likely to emerge and likely to split the non-Trump vote. But the latest Monmouth poll didn’t limit the options of GOP primary voters and still found DeSantis with a double-digit lead over Trump:
The @MonmouthPoll asked Republicans about their choice for president in an open-ended question, no names listed. The result:
DeSantis: 39%
Trump: 26%
Pence: 2%
Haley: 1%
Cruz: 1%https://t.co/K0JxY9pxnk— Bill Scher (@billscher) December 16, 2022
