‘Left’s Big Fight Against Nomination of Michael McConnell Fizzles’

That’s the title of my new Confirmation Tales post, which explores how George W. Bush’s nomination of law professor Michael McConnell to a Tenth Circuit seat in 2001 ended up creating a deep divide between liberal activist groups and liberal academics. Indeed, two of the architects of Democrats’ strategy of escalated obstruction, law professors Cass Sunstein and Larry Tribe, helped to pave the way for McConnell.

Find out how McConnell went from being one of the Left’s top targets to being confirmed by voice vote.
