I very much doubt that it is an accident that the Bidens are being buried in late night.

Some may be paying attention to Jasmine Crockett’s reliably awful speech. I’m more taken by the remarkable outfit, which plays like a weirdly avant-garde tribute to Ziegfeld’s Follies.

Philip Klein

For those keeping score, it’s 10:30 pm and there are still six solo speakers on the official DNC schedule before Joe Biden takes the stage, plus an additional trio of speakers taking the stage together. Looking very likely Biden won’t even take the stage until we’re out of primetime. Not sure why all these minor speakers were necessary on what was suppose to be the big tribute to Biden.

Raskin shrieking about “kangaroo Supreme Court justices” is basically one big Molotov cocktail aimed at American institutions and the rule of law. And with Jasmine Crockett on deck, the temperature of the rage from the podium isn’t lowering.

We’re now at the point of the evening — 9:25 or so local time, 10:25 Eastern – where reporters look at the schedule of speakers and wonder if Joe Biden will finish his speech by 11 p.m…. or heck, at this rate, whether he will start his speech at 11 p.m.. Kids, you may not believe this, but there was a time when finishing by 11 p.m. Eastern was important for the local news and after that, The Tonight Show.

One more indignity for Joe Biden — giving his convention address after most of the east coast has gone to bed.

Jeffrey Blehar

Raskin is giving the crowd what they want. He felt like a random pick for such a showcase spot, but there is the reason why they gave it to him: He can deliver a scorcher.

No remotely competent Republican presidential candidate could lose to these people.

Now, Jamie Raskin is here to tell us about how he voted against certifying the winner of the 2016 election and threatens to do so again if Trump wins. And he calls this “the democracy convention” because he is utterly shameless.

Noah Rothman

One big advantage Democrats are making the most of tonight is knowing who their general election opponent is.

Dan McLaughlin

It is impossible to overstate how enthused this convention is for the killing of unborn children. It brings applause lines every single time. The very prospect of doing away with babies brings joy.
