Apparently, Tucker Carlson’s speech is being carried live by Fox News Channel, but not on the other networks. For one night, at least, he’s back on Fox at the 8 p.m. hour!

Carlson shares how impressed he was that Trump “turned down” the opportunity provided by the attempt on his life to “inflame the nation.” He adds that he believes nearly every other politician he’s met would take that opportunity.

An effective anecdote from Tucker Carlson, describing talking to Trump the night of the shooting, and Trump marveling that the crowd, hearing gunshots, did not run. He notes that Trump did not take the opportunity to “inflame the nation” and suggests that almost any other politician would have chosen differently.

Carlson begins with a shout out to Peter Navarro, who “suffered the fate” that so many of “associates of Donald Trump” endure. In Navarro’s case, refusing to abide by a subpoena and being held in contempt of Congress.

Tucker Carlson is really excited about Peter Navarro being out of prison.

Tucker Carlson introduced as, among other things, an “American citizen.” Just in case.

It’s the week of the Republican convention, but all the drama is on the Democratic side. From the Wall Street Journal, internal Democratic numbers that indicate Joe Biden is on track to lose to Donald Trump in a landslide:

The data, which was based on voter surveys compiled by Democratic firm Blue Rose Research and viewed by The Wall Street Journal, shows Biden losing not only all the swing states, but also behind or even in New Hampshire, Minnesota, New Mexico, Virginia and Maine. It shows the president leading by only 2.9 percentage points in New Jersey.

A major concern for Democrats up and down the ballot is the fact that half of voters, including 28% of those who backed Biden in 2020 and 52% of swing voters, believe that Democrats in office have been lying about the president’s mental fitness. The report says voters are likely to view Democrats’ defense of Biden as dishonest by a two-to-one margin.

I suspect voters view Democrats as dishonest… because they were!

Tucker Carlson is coming up shortly. Since leaving Fox, Carlson has veered from being edgy and often irresponsible, to outright nutty — from indulging bizarre conspiracies about nefarious alien “spiritual entities” and producing propaganda videos about Russian grocery stores. My guess is that he is smart enough to leave that sort of stuff at bay tonight and revert to his Fox primetime mode.

After touting the Trump administration’s efforts to engineer an “honorable” exit from Afghanistan, Pompeo savages the Biden administration’s execution of that mission. “I’m disgusted,” he said, by the Biden administration’s “incompetent pullout from that country.”

Mike Pompeo rattles off a laundry list of sizable foreign policy achievements during Trump’s first term: “There were no new American wars.” “Our southern border closed.” “We destroyed ISIS and it’s caliphate.” “The evil of Vladimir Putin was held at bay.” America treated Israel “like the friend and ally they need to be.”

And, “We never lost our secretary of defense for two weeks, either.”
