DeSantis campaign should cut that abortion answer into an ad and blast it out across Iowa.

Jim Geraghty

Kathryn, I wonder if the Fox News moderators A) thought abortion was fitting as the grand finale topic and/or B) thought the candidates, succumbing to fatigue, might be more likely to make a consquential misstep or error discussing the final issue.

Ron DeSantis rejects “the idea that pro-lifers are to blame for [2022’s] midterm defeats.” He says he has a lot of other ideas about what caused the GOP’s shortcomings that year, though he declined to elaborate on what those might be. He needs be asked to expand on this answer in the coming days, because the GOP needs to confront that weakness and address it – the sooner, the better.
