Ohio Thursday Morning Roundup

Gubernatorial Race

  • The Washington Post is moving the Ohio Gubernatorial race back into the “Toss-up” category following what some see as a pro-Strickland wave in the polls and ad buys. This is sure to impact tonight’s debate, where both candidates are expected to play it safe.

  • A revelation that will further aggravate Ted Strickland’s progressive base is also in the news — apparently News Corp.’s massive gift to the RGA was motivated by Rupert Murdoch’s friendship with John Kasich. Murdoch demurs, saying he’s just being a good Chamber of Commerce member. If Ted Strickland exploits this too much, however, he’s going to further reinforce the massive doubts about whether he can work with Ohio’s business community.

  • The Toledo Blade, meanwhile, is terrified that John Kasich might stop an unneeded project. And Crain’s Cleveland asks a question that will terrify progressives — could Kasich be gearing up for a White House run?
