Republican senate candidate Carly Fiorina released her first statewide, general election ad today. It features the infamous clip of Democratic senator Barbara Boxer asking Brig. Gen. Michael Walsh, who was testifying before the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, to call her “senator” instead of “ma’am.”
In the ad, Fiorina depicts the incident as a sign of Boxer’s Washington arrogance, emphasizing Boxer’s statement that she “worked so hard to get that title.” Watch it here:
Boxer’s campaign shot back with this statement, according to the National Journal:
We’re happy to compare Barbara Boxer’s record of delivering for Californians with Carly Fiorina’s record of layoffs and shipping jobs overseas. Californians are fed up with the arrogance of CEOs who take multi-million dollar bonuses and golden parachutes while the middle class suffers.
This is not the first time the Fiorina campaign has used the “ma’am” incident in a campaign ad. Earlier this year, a long ad, depicting Boxer as a giant blimp, also used the incident (around the 3 minute mark):
