Talkin’ missile defense, &c.

We have asked this question in this column before: If a Democrat becomes president, is missile defense suspended again, until another Republican is elected? President Bush recently rapped Congress, hard, for cutting hundreds of millions from missile defense. Yeah, that’s what Democrats do. They don’t want it. Sooner rap ducks for waddling.

Maybe some Republican should make missile defense an issue in this presidential campaign — especially in this age of nuclear proliferation, rogue states, and terror groups. Will this country, and our allies, have missile defense or not? In the 2000 campaign, Bush made it an issue. He was right to do so. Whether it made a difference in votes — one way or the other — I can’t tell you.

‐I will be at the Ashbrook Center, Ashland University, tomorrow noon — giving a lil’ talk. If you’re around, say hello. Otherwise, I’ll see you later.
