Obama and Boehner's Press Secretaries Go Head-to-Head on Twitter
Two of Washington’s most powerful press secretaries, the White House’s Jay Carney and Speaker John Boehner’s Brendan Buck, got into a Twitter rumble yesterday surrounding the sequester. During the White House press briefing, Carney accused Republicans of not doing enough to avert the upcoming sequester deadline. As Politico noted, Buck took issue with those claims, kicking off the clash:
Public Service Announcement: The only group in Washington to pass a plan to replace the sequester is the Republican House majority.

White House complains about false equivalence. Agree: Democrats have never passed a sequester plan. Republicans have twice.

Dem Senate-passed sequester bills: 0; Republican House-passed sequester bills: 2; Awesome House R hashtags: too many to count

Today in White House Fantasyland: Republicans “making choice” to allow sequester – despite being the only ones to pass replacement bill.

Carney didn’t take those comments lightly, but Buck pressed back:.
BTW @brendan_buck, USAT/Pew poll says Americans support POTUS’ balanced approach to deficit reduction 76-19% over GOP plan. #GOPOutOfTouch?
— Jay Carney (EOP) (@PressSec) February 21, 2013
.@presssec If the American people support approach so much, why hasn’t the Dem-run Senate ever passed it?
— Brendan Buck (@Brendan_Buck) February 21, 2013
.@presssec Was Senator Reid not available for a call today or is the boss cool with the Dem Senate producing nothing on the sequester?
— Brendan Buck (@Brendan_Buck) February 21, 2013
#more#As the duel wrapped up, Buck thanked Carney for raising his profile during their showdown:
Thank you for the followers, @presssec.

.@brendan_buck. Happy to aid a friend in dire straits. At 13% and falling, you guys need all the help you can get.
